All our professional wildlife guides are approved by and are members of our Society. Individually and collectively, they are a valued and important part of ABS. Many will be known to members who have already used their guiding services or have been guided by them on our monthly field meetings. Most have also contributed articles to our quarterly magazine ‘Birds of Andalucía’. All our guides give their time for our official ABS field meetings free of charge.
We believe they are the best wildlife guides in the region and a day spent in their company offers a rare chance to enjoy all aspects of our wild places under their expert guidance and knowledgeable company. Without exception a day spent with them is not only enlightening, but great fun too. All are at ease with the beginner or the more experienced wildlife enthusiast. Whatever your level of experience your day with them will enrich and further your understanding of our native fauna and flora.
In this series we introduce you all to our ABS approved professional guides and each part of this series goes into detail for 3 guides. Part 5 is the final installment describing our valued guides and members of the Society. Links to previous posts can be found below.
Juan Martín Bermúdez
Juan is very well known to members and has helped the Society with field meetings and his enthusiasm for the work of ABS. He is a leading guide in the areas of the Doñana Natural Park, Brazo del Este and the Bay of Cádiz. Accompanying him on a day tour or full one week tour is a delight, his friendly nature and extensive knowledge on wildlife, culture and the region’s heritage is a real eye opener. Juan has an academic background and yet is at ease with all levels of interest for those on his tours. His work in conservation and in particular, the restoration of the salt marshes and wetlands has been recognised at the highest levels. We highly recommend a tour with Juan. Touring the areas around the Cordoba province for birding is made an amazing experience in Antonio’s company. His knowledge covers not just the birds of the region, but also the culture and local ways of the people living in the countryside here. He is one of the friendliest and most helpful of people you could wish to meet, a day spent in his company is both enlightening and a joy. For those who enjoy nature photography, Antonio manages hides throughout the province, a must for the enthusiast. For further details see here.
