Information about the meeting
This is our yearly meeting to see the migration of sea birds migrating through the Straits of Gibraltar. At the moment the isla is closed to the public so places are limited, in previous years this has been 10 members plus the guides, but come the time of the meeting it may be open to the public, so it may be open to all members we will just have to see how things work out. So as things stand, please if you want to go, get your names in quickly. To reserve a place, send an email to frankynohair@hotmail.co.uk and I will pass it on to the authorities in Tarifa. If places are limited this will be a morning event. I will be going on to La Janda for the afternoon. If it is open to the public, we could stay for the day.
Accommodation in the area
Check the ABC for associate members in the area or check Airbnb or booking.com.
Clothing and Food
This will be a packed lunch meeting but for those that want a venta meal there are plenty of ventas in the area both in Tarifa and in Tahivilla.
It can be cold and windy at this time of the year, so warm clothes are required.
Possible birds
Shearwaters, Gannets, Gulls, Egrets, Skuas, Petrels and Cormorants.
Notes:
1. We will ask a member to write a trip report for our experiences of the day.
2. Members can invite guests, but they must join the Society on the day for insurance purposes.
3. We will ask members in attendance to drop a voluntary micro-contribution in a collection box to show their appreciation for the day and help support a nominated ABS conservation project.
If you would like to help us in funding the many conservation projects we support please donate via this link here.
