Meeting Point: The car park of Hotel Apolo XI

Information about the meeting: We will meet at the cafe of the Hotel Apolo (see map) and members arriving early can get a coffee or even a breakfast! We will proceed to the area around La Janda to view breeding Montagu’s Harrier and Manuel can explain the conservation project and give an update to progress for the year. Manuel is a leading bird guide for the area and will be able to show a range of species throughout the general area. Of course a target bird will be Spanish Imperial Eagle among other prime species.
Accommodation in the area: Look at the accommodation of our Affiliated Members in the region
Clothing and food: It will be warm/hot so light clothing is recommended, but as always best to be prepared and bring a light jacket/fleece. Hat and sunscreen a must. Either bring a packed lunch or have a meal in the cafe Apolo.
Possible birds: Black Kites, White Stork, Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Spanish Imperial Eagle,Great white Egret, little Egret, Cattle Egret, Greater Flamingo, Glossy Ibis, Bald Ibis, possibly Black Stork, also many wildfowl species. These are our most likely birds but we should get many others.
We will be looking for a member to write a trip report for this meeting.
IMPORTANT: This meeting is only open to members of the Andalucia Bird Society guests can join on the day for as little as 25 Euro.
