Bar Angela Trebujena
ABS field meeting at Trebujena and the surrounding area
April 13th 2024
Bar Angela at the exit of the town Trebujena.
Leader for the day
Information about the meeting
With this meeting I intend to drive through the grape fields until we arrive at the parking area next to the driveway to the venta Manegodor. Where we can park the cars and watch the birds on and around the new reserve which has been built there. After this we will drive to the Brazo del Este area along the Rio Guadalquivir if the tracks are suitable. The track along the rio Guadalquivir is not in too good a condition but it is passable with care it has been done in a Ford focus.
Accommodation in the area
Check the ABS website for the affiliated members offering accommodation in the area there are a few.
Clothing and food
At this time of the year, it could be chilly or warm so wrap up you can always take clothing off. I will be bringing a packed lunch as this is in the middle of the campo and the only ventas are in the surrounding towns which are far away.
At this time of the year there are plenty of birds around the reserve, including, Little Ringed Plover, Kentish Plover, Little Tern, Avocet, Black-winged Stilt, Purple Swamphen, Common and Green Sandpiper, Coot, Moorhen, Griffon Vulture, Osprey, Spanish Imperial Eagle, Booted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Black Kites, Marsh Harrier plus White storks who build spectacular nests on some of the older buildings along the river.
Other sites in the area for those staying overnight.
This is an amazing part of Andalucía and the area is full of sites for watching birds all along the rio Guadalquivir.
