¡Muchas gracias!

Event: Members Field Meeting
Date: 10th December 2011
Meeting Point: Restaurant Tropezon, Ctra Ronda – Sevilla. Take the turning signposted to the village of Monte Corto off the main Ronda to Sevilla road and the first road off the roundabout which leads to the car park belonging to the Venta.
Time: 9.30 am prompt please.

Leader for the day: Peter Jones

We will meet in the venta Tropezon and depart 10 am sharp. Making our way around the reservoir of Zahara, we will take the mountain road from that village to Grazalema, several miradors provide opportunities to stop and search for wintering birds such as Ring Ouzel, Alpine Accentor etc. We will stop for lunch at a venta in Grazalema. After lunch we can explore one or two local sites for Black Wheatear, Water Pipit and a few other local specialities. The route is stunningly scenic and provides many possibilities for some good birding.

We look forward to meeting you on the day. Non-members welcome at 25 Euro per person.

Hi Peeps
I will be there but Eileen can not make it as she has to look after the dogs at the girls pottery.  The girls are at El Largo, as El Largo is having a Xmas fair where the girls will be selling there pottery and glass wear so bring some pennies.

Time is marching on and our field meeting on the 10th is promising to live-up to expectations of being relaxed. Warm clothing is recommended as the highest mirador at 1347m above sea level 'will' be cool. Our lunch stop in Grazalema will be close to the local information centre, it holds good stocks of books related to all kinds of fauna and flora, in English as well as Spanish, so some of you might like to take a look whilst we are there. As Frank has already mention, there is a mini-market of local crafts in Zahara close to our route, so some may also like to take a closer look!!

Of course, none of the above will detract from what promises to be a birding day and scenically one of the finest routes in all of Spain. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Saturday.

Great turnout of members, super weather apart from some cold winds, brilliant birds including some stunning views of both sexes of Ring Ouzel, relaxed and super lunch, for me a highly successful member's field trip.

Thanks to all who were able to make it and for being such wonderful company on the day.

Look forward to seeing you all and more at our next meeting schedule for the 21st January 2012 at Fuente de Piedra.
