¡Muchas gracias!

Hi Peeps
The field meeting in November will be at Luguna Dulce and the surrounding lugunas and farm land surrounding the luguna.  Lets hope we can get out and see if we can find the cranes which should be there by then.  The date is the 26th, the location is the Luguns Dulce hide and the time will be 10.am.

Ah, ha, Frankie, you have given me the information that I need re next month so I can now start thinking about the next Members Monthly Mailing. I'll be there to keep you company and it will be a perfect send-off before I depart back to the UK the following Tuesday.

At least half a dozen Cranes at La Janda last Friday on my way down to the Guadalquivir for the October meeting on 22nd so the birds may already have arrive - well, certainly the crazy ones that can't wait to be first at everything!

Hi Franky

I can confirm that the cranes have indeed arrived.

We were at Laguna Dulce at mid-day today (Wednesday 26 October) on our way home from the Guadalquivir, and a flock of 20 to 30 birds flew overhead on their way south.

Unfortunately Jan has a hospital appointment the day before your meet so we could not get there from Murcia in time, so I guess we will miss your day out.

I am confused and I expect other people are also confused.

I thought the November Field Trip was Osuna in Seville and it was on the 19th November.

The web site shows the trip on the 19th November to Seville Province.

Hi Peeps
Sorry for the confusion but I have been in the UK and I only returned to wonderful Spain last week.  OK we were going to Osuna but I thought it might be better to go there in March when we may be able to see the nest site of the Collared Pratincoles.
I have been up to Laguna Dulce today and what a day, it rained all of the time but in came the Cranes string after string after string in the end we lost count, but there were 3 to 4 hundred birds just on the far bank of the luguna.  The marsh Harriers were showing well, over the thistles at the back of the luguna were a flock of Gold Finches but no Little Bustards, so there is plenty too see.  After lunch I am going to call in to a vulture feeding site half way to back to Olvera.  I will be there at 10.00 and lunch will be in Campillos and then off to watch the Vultures having there lunch with any luck.

Forecast is 17C and sun. Can't be better than that for late November.

Janet and I will be there.

We will be with you at the Dulce by 10 (unless the traffic causes any problems) but will not stay for lunch nor travel westwards with the group.  Look forward to seeing you all

Thank you Frank for a wonderful day out, weather perfect, superb lunch and lots of birds.

Janet was so thrilled with the Crossbills at the end of the day, great views. AND a Mandragora autumnalis, the Mandrake plant of Harry Potter fame!

Best wishes Brenda

Hi Peeps
Thanks to all that came on Saturday I am in the process of writing a report and a list of the birds that we saw on the day.  I have had an e-mail from Bob, all of the Cranes were at Fuente with the Flamingos.  Pity about the men with dogs.
