¡Muchas gracias!

It seems not too many will be coming to the field meeting. If none of my fellow members mind, I am inviting several of the local 'Osuna' naturalists to join us, although being election day I am uncertain how many will attend. I think it would and could be beneficial to the society and an opportunity to spread the word regarding ABS to more of the locals. We already have Spanish members, but it is so very important to get the message across that this is a multi national society and above all its for those of us living here in Andalucia.

Hi Peter
I will be there with the beast so if anyone needs a lift along the tracks I can take 6.  It will be good to see some Spanish birdwatchers.

Hi Peter.

Had managed to sort the day out and I was going to be coming till a nice Spanish lady tried to fit a people carrier inside a Ford Fiesta (which does not go) yesterday in Malaga City.
So now waiting to have the repairs done, still no one was hurt.

See you soon Mick.

You are all, well not all, dark horses! The attendance for our field meeting was 24 persons and thank you one and all for making it such an enjoyable day.

I'll get around to posting the bird list asap. Can you all let me have copies of any photographs taken during the meeting please....

Many thanks peter for a very successful day and, I am sure, enjoyed by.  For Stephen and I you managed to "tick all the boxes" with sightings of Collared Pratincoles, Rollers, Stone Curlew instead of Little Bustard and we even has a Great Bustard on the way home.  I'll get my blog completed in the next hour or so and, assuming I have some, send suitable photographs.  All the Hen and Montagu's Harriers were an added bonus.  And we even had time to get back home in time to exercise our respective franchises!

Let me know what is happening/planned for June and I will make sure that it is included in the next Monthly Mailing.  I will be off to UK and New York for Queen Mary return home next Friday so will be away until about 30 June.  However, will have access to Internet so can still get above mailing sorted.  If you have your AGM before I return I am quite, happy, if members wish, to carry on with my present position as Membership Secretary.

Many thanks again for yesterday

What a great day or should I say what a un-great day as we searched and searched for that Great bustard that Bob had seen, with out success but I think I will be going back to find them next week.  Apart from that it was a wonderful day good to see so many members ( some I have not seen before and some I have not seen for some time).  Unfortunately I did not get my camera out so no photos for Peter.  Once again thanks to Peter for organising such a good day.

Bird List – Field Meeting Osuna 22nd May 2011

As promised the list of species seen whilst on our field meeting in the Osuna area. Please note some id corrections! I didn't see Hen Harrier, which is not to say others might have, but bit of caution on that given the time of year? It was good to give 'our' society a higher profile to some important and good people from Osuna, they will certainly have plenty of good things to say about ABS and will publish the day's events to locals in Osuna and Marchena. Thank you again one and all for making such a great day out.
