November Rarities 2010

Lesser Flamingo Phoenicopterus minor
Málaga On 24.11 there was one adult within a flock of Greater Flamingos entering from the sea at Guadalhorce river, Málaga, as if coming from Melilla, Spain, N Africa. They later moved to the SW (Andy Paterson - ABS).

Rüppell's Vulture Gyps rueppellii
Málaga. There were 2 juveniles at the Ronda vieja area, Ronda, Málaga on 3.11. Nearby, at Laguna Vieja, a Grey Phalarope was present (Peter Jones - ABS)
Cádiz On 17.11 a bird was seen at La Hoya, Tarifa (Javier Elorriaga)

Long-legged Buzzard Buteo rufinus
Cádiz On 13.11 a bird was seen at Los Barrios, Cádiz. Believed to be the same individual seen last two years (Javier Elorriaga).
Sevilla. A possible bird was seen at Doñana natural park, Aznalcázar, Sevilla, on 7.11 near FAO dike (José Antonio Sarrión & Amadeo Quiñones)

Lesser Spotted Eagle Aquila pomarina
Cádiz On 12.11 a ringed juvenile bird was seen and photographed over El Cabrito, Tarifa, Cádiz. (Pako Zufiaur, Javier Elorriaga). Colour ring noted the ring!, Pako Zufiaur. The bird was ringed with a PVC ring (HA) and was a juvenile ringed in Western Pomerania, Germany in July 2010 (Carsten Rhode & Andreas Hoffman).

Corncrake Crex crex
Málaga. One was seen at Zapata, Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga on 3.11 (Samuel Peregrina - ABS)

Little Swift Apus affinis
Cádiz There were 17 at Chipiona, Cádiz on 5.11 (Rafael García, Pepe Luque) and 8 on 14.11 (Rafael García).

Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus
Sevilla On 2.11 one was trapped and ringed at Guadaira river, Coria del Rio, Sevilla (F.Gavilán et al/Grupo de Anillamiento Zamalla).

Siberian Chiffchaff Phylloscopus collybita tristis
Sevilla. A bird was ringed at Pantano de la Torre del Águila, Sevilla, on 6.11 (Fernando Gavilán).
