¡Muchas gracias!

Hope this doesn't bore you but I found my little Scops owl again . He was in an olive tree next to the tree where I had seen him before. This time I managed a more characteristic photo showing his "ears" so I thought it was worth posting.
He/ she was calling in broad daylight well around 8pm but I have heard him in the mornings as well yet I had previously believed that they don't normally call during the day. Is this unusual?

I also had  a spotted flycatcher , nightingales, a golden oriel female feeding on the nispero fruits, and a small rat right at the top of another nispero tree! Locally here they call these "tree rats" but I understand they are just brown rats that take the opportunity to feed on fruit. Is this correct? They do look very similar but look decidedly smaller than our UK brown rats. Anyone know anything about them?

Harry, not boring and great to catch-up on your latest garden news. Super birds and like you say a really characteristic pose! Hoping, waiting for that definative photograph of Golden Oriole though!!!!

Hi Peter,
The golden oriels are in our eucalypus again this year but I have not been able to find the nest this year so I cannot rise to your challenge however I took these two pics in the same trees in 2008. Look how they have woven scraps of plastic into the nest.....just fantastic engineering.

Great photos Harry! I always think nests are such feats of engineering and wonderous things.
