¡Muchas gracias!

Field Meeting – 24th April 2010
Malaga Province – Fuente de Piedra
Leader: Peter Jones

Meet at the main visitor centre car park at 10am. At this time last year the small pools near to the main centre were producing a great show of waders and all in summer plumage, so with other spring migrants likely the day should prove very worthwhile. We will concentrate our efforts around the main centre and main approach road to the village during the morning, take a lunch in the village and then proceed to Laguna Dulce in the afternoon (yes there is plenty of water there this spring). Both areas visited are known to produce a rarity or two and with terns, waders, raptors and many other birds putting in appearances who knows what we may turn-up? We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend.

Peter

hi , new to ABS, sorry didn't know you existed until we noticed the web site on a member's car. My wife and I hope to join you for the April trip.

We had a good sighting of the osprey on Saturday , having just caught a fish - still wriggling- he sat on the post and waited until ready to eat . It was there for a long while .
Also spotted a Ruddy Shelduck - female - that's a first for us!

hope to join up with oyu soon - going to Donana for Semana Blanca - anyone else there?

Well Peep
What a wonderful day the sun came out and the birds were there for all to see with the flamingos showing well.  Good to see so much water in the laguna which bods well for a good crop of chicks.  We will have to wait for the final count from Elle to see how many we saw.  Thanks to Peter and I hope see you all next time.

Thanks Franky and all those attending today's field meeting. A real treat to see you all and enjoyed the company.

Andy (from Ronda Today) sent his photograph of the group, minus Andy Paterson who missed out yet again on a good lunch!
