¡Muchas gracias!

Just realised I posted this in the wrong section. Sorry..... :-[

Hello all - new to this forum malarky so hello :-[ but I am in a bit of a quandry. We are heading to our normal destination of Nerja at the end of the this month and also at the end of April. We would really like to visit one of these areas in each visit and I was wondering if anyone could suggest which would be best for the March etc etc...

From your experience would either of these sites have ''earlier'' migrant arrival at all or is it a toss up between the two?

Also does anyone know of any good birding areas in the local area to Nerja. We visit Rio Velez lagoon/F d Piedra and Montes de Malaga. Even though we have been visiting the area for years now I am still hoping to see or even hear my namesake and a few others Roller, Alpine Swift, Little Bustard and of course Trumpeter Finch,  B.B Sandgrouse and Dupont's Lark (I can but hope with those last three ;D)

No problem regarding posting under wrong section - moved it here hoping it gets better responses.

If it helps I would go for the Ronda area end of April, lots more summer visitors will have arrived by then, including Alpine Swift (2 very good sized colonies in the area). Getting cooperation on a site for Dupont's Lark is as likely as winning the lottery! Very heavily guarded secret by a select few!!

BB Sandgrouse and Trumpeter Finch shouldn't be too difficult and maybe private message Mick Richardson and Bob Hibbitt for sites?

Thank you for moving me to the right place -I will get the hang of it soon...promise :-[. Thank you for your info. You have confirmed my thoughts. I figured that the Lark would be about as easy as finding hens teeth lol ;D.

I will send a message the the Sandgrouse and Finch as you suggested-thank you. We are restricted somewhat to daytrips so distance can sometimes be an issue with some sites further afield.

Have you found Hoya d G productive at all? I have read that it can be rather hit and miss but the landscape looks stunning all the same....

Thanks :)

Hoya de guadix has never really figured much on my 'must visit' areas, but others here might know and feel differently. I would definately make the effort in March to travel further up the coast to Gabo de Gata! Lots to see there.

Thanks for the info - I am now trying to wangle a trip to Almeria instead - a bit of arm twisting may be needed though - Hahahahaha. Just need to commit calls to memory (hits youtube) as that is possibly all I will hear. Thanks again for your help. :)
