Moorish Gecko

Moorish Gecko in our terrace at Mijas. I think an easy distinguishing feature from the Turkish Gecko are the very pronounced pads on the toes.  Great just sitting in the evenings watching them stalking insects.

I come over all very jealous Harry when I see threads like these! Geko, crickets etc are all very exotic if you live in the artic circle i.e. UK. Can't wait to get back over to Andalusia.

Nice photograph Harry. We get great pleasure watching them scurry around on the walls of our patio and waiting patiently for an insect to come within range. I don't know about you, but we have all sizes and coloured Gekos and wondered why such a variety in colour?

Happy to brighten an artic evening ,mind you there must be much more daylight with you than there is with us....perhaps a little warmer here

As regards the colour variations ,I really don't know except to say that lots of our reptiles and amphibians seem to vary widely in colour within their species. Perhaps it is an enviroment camoflage variation to reduce predation. I am thinking of  the snakes which drive me nuts with colour variations within a species and  the common toad Sapo Sapo which we have here varying anywhere from peach to  olive green!
